      Many low- or medium-speed rolling mill bearings use four-row tapered roller bearings. Due to its design, this bearing is capable of withstanding axial loads outside of radial loads. In general, no additional thrust bearings are required in the bearing arrangement, the roll journals can be relatively short, and the bearing housings on either side of the rolls can be of the same design. Due to the design of the four-row tapered roller bearing, this bearing must be mounted as a complete bearing on the chock. In order to be able to change rolls quickly, such bearings must be loosely fitted on the roll journal. The disadvantage of the loose fit is that the inner ring creeps on its base under the main load conditions, which usually causes wear of the base with a lower hardness than the bearing ring. In order to reduce the influence of loose fit to a certain extent, that is, to reduce wear, the bearing has a spiral groove in the inner ring hole, and/or an oil groove on the side of the inner ring.
